Summary: Power management is critical in IC design, especially for mobile devices, battery-operated systems, and non-portable systems with power consumption constraints. However, not all applications have the same requirements for addressing power management. In this tutorial, experts from different application areas will present the requirements and solutions for power management, including design, verification and analysis. The areas chosen for this tutorial include wireless, automotive, IP, and EDA flows. A general overview of low power design and verification challenges for SoC designers will set the context for each of the application areas.
Speakers: Dr. Gary Delp Dr. Gary Delp is a Distinguished Engineer at LSI. As a senior member of the Si2 Low Power Coalition, Vice-chair of the IEEE P1801 working group, and the Technical Director of The SPIRIT Consortium, he is in a unique position to provide insight into interoperability needs and potentials. Gary spends his time working on design and IP reuse, inside of a design, across designs, and across the economic eco-system. Some of this reuse is in the form of bundles and IP functions, some is in the form of formats, methodologies, and exploratory work. Standards setting bodies, industry alliances and University research programs support this work of technology transfer. He works collaboratively; the bulk of his 40+ patents are jointly held with others. Gary holds degrees in theatre and a PhD in Electrical Engineering. |
